DD Form 3067-1 – SMART Scholarship Award Length Change Approval
The SMART Scholarship Program awards full tuition and fees to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in 21 academic disciplines critical to national security. Upon graduation, SMART scholars transition into federal government employees at a DoD research laboratory or engineering center. Each SMART scholarship is funded for up to five years, with a service commitment of one year of DoD employment for each academic year of funding.
The SMART Scholarship application is open from August through December of every year, with awards being granted the following spring. Applicants must register to apply and access the DoD SMART Scholarship application portal to complete their online application. They must submit all supporting materials by December 1 at 5:00 PM EST to be considered for this program. Applicants can monitor the status of their application on the portal.
The application portal can be saved and returned if you need to make a change to your information. All scholarship changes must be approved by the SMART Oversight Committee before they can be made.
